Andrew Moran - charity work - bringing live music to people with learning disabilities
Free gigs in Leicestershire for people with learning disabilities (adults or children and young people)
I know that there are lots of people with learning disability who love music and would like to go to a music gig but might find the noise and crowds too much to handle. I have some experience of doing this already from some gigs for a south Leicestershire club. It won't bother me if people call out or making a noise when I sing. I am happy to have people join me to sing a song they love - as long as I know it! My set lasts about an hour or so in total, with a break in the middle. I play a variety of music - songs from the charts and some well known songs. This is good for a group situation because there will probably be enough variety to make sure everyone will know and like some of the songs.
My parents both have enhanced DBS checks (they work in the NHS and education services) and one of them would come with me to cover the supervision angle.
I can bring my own mic and amp and bring some shakers so people can join in. The amp will suit most village halls or community rooms. I am happy to come to groups for adults or children and young people. Use my website contact form to get in touch - let me know the approximate location and if you have a preferred date.
If you run a charity or support group for children and young people without learning disability and would like a gig, get in touch.
